What a year 2022 was for the hair and beauty industry. We have seen trends coming back and new trends coming in with social media being at the forefront of these via promotions. Sites such as TikTok and Instagram have created new ways for people to pick up on trends thanks to reels and videos.
Now 2023 is here, a new year of trends are set to pave the way for beauty lovers new and old. At My Hair and Beauty our team of beauty specialists have kept a close eye on last year's trends and have curated a list of some of the ones that will be engulfing the world this year too!

Looking back at 2022…
Some of us will be joyful and others may be less positive about beauty trends of 2022. We have seen creativity pushed in a space that holds no boundaries.
Many of you will have seen the “Wolf Cut” popup. Influencers and individuals have gone ahead and gotten this haircut which reflects that of a wolf due to the textured styling and somewhat pointy fringe and ends.
Moving down a little we get to the eyes, what a year it has been for them. Eyebrows and Eyeliner have taken over.
If you have been out of the loop then there has been a wave of people showing off their eyeliner designs, many of which look like pieces of art as shading and colours are utilised more. Also gems and stones have made their way into this trend which really has pushed the boundaries!
As we all know though by now, when something out of the ordinary is done right, it can really pave the way for future trends.
Now onto eyebrows, who would have thought bleached eyebrows would be a thing. Whilst a generally risky style it can make you look out of this world if done correctly. Stars such as Lizzo and Kendall Jenner have been seen rocking this look on red carpets and social media!

- Sustainability
Sustainability is being promoted in many different industries; motor vehicles, fashion and even hair and beauty. Sustainability is really important for preserving the Earth and our environment as manufacturing practices are more strict, with even the customer now being able to get involved after initial purchase.
Product lines like aftershaves/fragrances and makeup are becoming more and more sustainable as they can be refilled and/or recycled once finished with. Many brands such as Burberry and Penhaligon's are leading sustainable business practises through campaigns and instore offers.
Overall we believe this is more than a trend and is rather a cultural shift in the way hair and beauty is consumed. Let’s hope we see different brands in ALL industries push for sustainability in 2023.
- Celebrity Brands
Celebrities are one the ones who start trends via social media and on the catwalk. With this Celebrity run brands will become a powerhouse in 2023.
We have seen the likes of Kim Kardashian, Jeffree Star, Kat Von D and Rihanna blossom success with their own brands as their products bring a breath of fresh air to the beauty industry. They pour millions into research to bring the most up-to-date and groundbreaking range of products to the market.
It has become human nature to feel more confident buying from celebs that we are familiar with which is why this trend will continue strongly into 2023 and beyond. Furthermore, the price points are accessible to all and quality is not hindered in this process.
- Y2K
Our final pick for 2023 trends is the Y2K style. Paying homage to the timeless style from the 2000s many turn to Britney Spears, Evisu and thinned out eyebrows when discussing this style. All of which are still prominent amongst beauty lovers young and old.
Y2K can also be grouped with sustainability as fashion within this trend is majorly upcycled on sites such as Depop and Vinted, both of which are highly popular amongst Gen Z.
As for beauty Y2K boasts eye-catching styles as hair dyes and eyeshadows are its main driving force. Double dyed hair whether it's for fringes and hair ends are highly popular and look amazing. A timeless trend for sure and one we feel will make waves in this new year!
