In this article we’ll introduce you to No Shave November, the history behind it and how you can get involved this year!

No Shave November is an initiative setup for a great cause. Focusing on cancer prevention, treatment and education, it’s a cause that can save many lives in the future.  The campaign has seen great success in the United States, and we are hopeful it will see similar in the U.K too!

What is No Shave November?

No Shave November is a charity campaign that takes place in the month of November, to bring awareness to Cancer by ditching shaving for a month.

The event came about from small beginnings as the Hill family, from Chicago USA had sadly lost their father to Colon cancer in 2007. Through the power of social media and the awareness that can be raised on platforms like Facebook, thousands of people have donated and have gotten involved with the campaign since 2009.

With over $10 million raised for the No Shave November, the response each year for the cause has been phenomenal. Donations given are equivalent to a person's cost of grooming for the month. For many this could be a couple of pounds on shaving and waxing products, while for others it could go all the way up to hundreds of pounds, if you go to a professional salon.

Whilst in the U.K we had the ‘Movember’ charity event that had a similar purpose, No Shave November is inclusive, meaning both men and women can get involved. It is also inclusive of all hair types too, rather than just the male facial hair.

How can I get involved with No Shave November?

There are plenty of ways you can get involved with the celebration of No Shave November this year!

By simply dropping your shaving gear and donating the money to noshave.org your contributions will go towards cancer research and the education of cancer to people around the world.

If for whatever reason you cannot get involved with the no shave part of this campaign, it would be amazing if you and your loved ones still spread some awareness of the month to those around you and the importance of cancer research for future generations.

You can find out more about the campaign over at No-Shave November, where you can sign up, find details about the charity, fundraising, FAQs and much more.
