Is a reconstructor a conditioner?

Simply put, reconstructors contain protein (hair is 90% protein by the way), and work to restore structural integrity to the hair. Don't confuse them with deep conditioners which add moisture, but do not actually repair.

How many times can you use the reconstructor?

That's because it can only be used once. When you use a Reconstructor, a quick cutscene will play and it might not seem like anything actually happened. That's not the case, however — die and you'll see what happens.
